According to research, when a panic attack happens, the brain function in the frontal lobe is moved to the midsection of the brain or what is known as the Parietal Lobe. This is vital to understand since the front part of our brain is in charge of processing thoughts integral in making a decision and in rationalizing ideas, whereas the parietal lobe is designed to process instinct or the flight or fight nature of our body. Question by Josh B: Panic Attacks, Anxiety, I have this everyday, help me out.?
Please take the time to read, this is serious and I may need the best help and answers you got.
I’m laying all my cards out on this one. I’m 23 years old, I’m 5’10 and weigh 220. For the past 2 years I’ve witnessed Panic Atacks in my life and Anxiety, ever since my Dad’s company closed and I had to find work elsewhere, but since the econmey sucks, its hard to get a job which help caused anxiety (stress) in my life now. For the past 8 months or so I’ve been getting worse with the anxiety and panic attacks.
Everyday I feel weird, Its really confusing on how to explain this, and for the past few months it has been like this everyday. I’m afraid to go to work now because of this problem, I dont want to live off of mental disability.
The problems that I have happens everyday; ok, and its hard for me to explain but i will try the best i can, I feel like my head is going to explode with all the stupid thinking i do on worring and etc about my health (which causes me to go into a panic attack), At times i feel woozy like I’m going to pass out (but i never pass out, or experienced it) and when this happends I think about “Oh My God, am I going to die” “Am I having a Stroke” “Whats wrong with me this isnt normal”
I’ve never felt like this in my whole life, I’ve always been healthy. Also when I feel dizzy and headache like symptoms,At times I Get these weird chills that go up my back or at least one side to my face down. (which scare me of having a passout moment, stoke or heart attack) I did the study on Stokes and Heartattacks but this isnt in its defenition at all. When I go out with my girlfriend, I cant stand being in public at times, and there are days that I dont mind going out. I start thinking about my health and worring about it, then i dewell on it which cause me to go into a panic state and I get the woozy (dizzy spells) the weird pain in my head and chill like shakes.
The Dr. put me on Lexapro at first, then i gave it its rounds and the results were bad, they made me mean. Then the Dr. gave me Paxil, I gave it its rounds and It just didnt help at all, made it worse for me at times. Then the Dr. gave me Prozac and Vistaril (Vistiral only when having Anxiety attack which made me drunk like and tired) I; on Prozac, just gave it a week and found the side effects very bad, nothing that could kill me of course but didnt make me feel too good. I Give Up on Pills, I’ve never had this problem in my life and never had to take pills for anything. I was affraid that the pills would cause me to have a stroke or heart attack.
Since this has been an everday effect with me, for the past month now i have been trying to eat right and exersize more, due to the fact, ive been tired of feeling like this and all i did before is sit around and play games or watch TV, made me depressed and I’ve never been Depressed (*makes me mad* but i’ve been more active now lately) cause people are telling me that working out and eating right will help out alot, but I feel no change at times. Since this has been an everday thing, I dont want this to kill me later on down the road, actually i fear this could kill me, could it?.
Is this normal Anxiety / Panic Attacks? Am I a Hypocondriact (however you spell it, the phobia when you feel your sick all the time)
Thank you for your time.
Yes I went to the Dr. for Cat Scan, everything is fine, and Blood Work, everything is clear. FYI

I have Panic Disorder and what you are describing are panic attacks.
Untreated, this is a very serious disorder, and is biologically driven (not psychological). People with untreated Panic Disorder have very high suicide rates as the symptoms are terrifying. Taking an SSRI (paxil, prozac etc.) helps for some, but many need a benzodiazepene to get this under full control. Seriously you need to be placed on Xanax or Klonopin. Yes, these are ‘controlled substances’, but the quality of life it will restore to you (no more panic attacks) is worth becoming medically dependent upon them. Like I said, for some people no amount of SSRI or ‘talk’ therapy will help. If your GP is reluctant to prescribe it see an psychiatrist who specializes in Panic Disorder/Anxiety. Furthermore, if you already have high blood pressure or cardiovascular problems, then it is possible for a severe and prolonged panic attack to kill you as it elevates some peoples BP and heart rate tremendously. Good luck, I have been there and know the horror.

panicattack.online-trusted-sources.com Anxiety and panic attacks are basically normal reactions to stress and they cannot be categorized into any kind of disease or ailment. Everyone, who goes through lot of stress in relationships or work, has these anxiety and panic attacks. These are normal reactions to things around but if the same thing goes a bit over board or becomes excessive then there is a need to worry. If we go as per the statistics, then more than forty million of the American adult crowd (more than 18 years of age) has problems of anxiety and panic attacks. It is important that people, who are regular victims of these abnormalities, should go and visit their doctors for treatment and not treat the problem casually. These disorders are not very dangerous but they for sure create lots of other problems and make life difficult for the victim. Though these anxiety and panic attacks are not exactly or cannot be termed as a qualified medical situation but these mental disorders have lots of other medical side effects. People with these problems are three to four times more likely to meet the doctors or are six times more likely to get hospitalized for psychiatric disorders. These mental disorders are very common and more likely to happen when compared to bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, alcohol abuse or depression. People with these mental disorders are more vulnerable to physical health diseases. panicattack.online-trusted-sources.com The symptoms of these mental …

anxiety panic attacks symptom
Question by malrats: can severe anxiety/panic attacks be cured without medication?
i’m constantly anxious as all hell, developed something like agoraphobia (I only go out after taking xanax or getting drunk), really if you go down the list of anxiety symptoms I have them all constantly. the worst is walking around with this horrible fog in my brain. I can’t think clearly, I get super emotional, anger problems, very agitated, etc. I’ve tried 6 different antidepressants now and they’ve all just been terrible poison. the ones I’ve taken in the past I don’t really know how they work for anxiety because this has all only developed (at least to this extreme level) within the past year. I barely leave my house once a week, and that’s only for therapy. I used to be on the go constantly with my ex-girlfriend, partying every weekend, etc, with no problems at all. and then first it started to happen when I’d go to the mall, I’d get a panic attack EVERY time. so I avoided the mall. then it would happen in my ex’s car, so I avoided her car most of the time. before long I wasn’t able to drive myself, go to any stores, go out drinking, and then eventually I wasn’t even safe from it in my own house. I ended up in a short-term mental hospital for a few days back in december, and they forced me to take celexa which didn’t help the anxiety and just made me feel completely apathetic to everything. I had gone from crying all day everyday about my breakup to not caring about anything. so I never got the script filled after I was discharged. I’ve been going to therapy for a couple of months now (hasn’t helped at all, I think I need to find a psychologist instead of just seeing a social worker), and they had me try effexor XR, and within two days it made me suicidal. went back to see the doc today and he said he didn’t feel comfortable putting me on antidepressants anymore if they had that effect on me, and tried to push bipolar meds. I told him no way, and he just told me to keep taking my xanax and see if the CBT works. in other words he basically did nothing to help me.
anyway, I’m hoping that the anxiety is all just in my head and that if I can learn to think differently and just not care about it, that it won’t bother me anymore, but the problem is it always seems to be physical symptoms and then they trigger panic attacks because I start to freak out about the way i’m breathing, or how my heart is racing, or the faint feeling in my head, and i’m constantly worrying and have racing thoughts. like I said before, I’m walking around with my head in a cloud, and it’s awful. if you asked me how I started everything I’ve just written, I wouldn’t be able to tell you the first sentence without going back up and looking at it.
anyway, because it was only $ 8 and I don’t know what else to do, I went and filled the generic celexa script today, but haven’t started taking it yet and don’t know if I’m going to. even if it could possibly help, I’d like to think I could be a stronger person than someone who has to take antidepressants for the rest of my life because I can’t cope with, basically, feeling nervous. so I don’t really know what to do. but I’m tired of being confined to my house, miserable, jobless, never going out on weekends anymore, and certainly being miserable over my ex-girlfriend instead of at least trying to meet new girls.
anyone have any success without medication? I know people are gonna say things like breathing exercises and meditation, but they just don’t work for me. breathing exercises freak me out, and I can’t calm myself down enough or stop thinking about all the nonsense that goes through my head long enough to meditate.
right now I usually take 0.5mg xanax twice a day, and if I have to go out and drive sometimes it ends up being 1.25mg or 1.5mg by the end of the day (which isn’t good cause my script will run out sooner). other than that, I just take B-vitamins and fish oil, they don’t seem to make any difference. I also work out on my home gym every other day, and have been trying to use an elliptical on the off days but i’m so out of shape that I don’t quite have all that in me yet, i’m easing myself in.
also, I’ve found that when I get drunk (but only when it’s on occasion) I don’t feel anxious at all (and then when it starts to wear off, or the next morning, I feel about 100x more anxious along with the hangover).
I guess that’s all there is to say, so please help! anyone have success with CBT for SEVERE anxiety? i’m talking constant feeling of anxiety in general with all the physical symptoms and the b rain fog and then anticipatory panic attacks, along with invariable panic attacks associated with specific events (driving, shopping, etc).

CBT is the answer. If you have a good cognitive behavioural therapist, it’s a huge bonus. I had severe social anxiety while I was growing up and therapy really helped me. I didn’t need meds. It was scary especially the graded exposure to situations that I would generally avoid. But it helped. And of course, challenging my beliefs. It was important though for me to practise heaps outside session as well as my therapist would constantly reinforce. He told me that there was no point if I didn’t do the homework so I made sure I did. I still occasionally get anxious in social situations but I do not avoid them and it’s nowhere as bad as it used to be. I may be quiet but that’s a whole lot better to having a panic attack, increased heart beat, feeling like throwing up and just feeling plain dizzy.

Question by Mike: Why do medicines have so many side effects/withdrawal symptoms?
I was given ativan 1mg at the ER and a few days later had massive paranoia, shaking, anxiety, and over the course of a few weeks have had numbness, tingling, tachycardia, blurry mind and other things.
Supposedly I’m not supposed to feel withdrawal effects after one use, but I did and after going back to the ER for Tachycardia (induced by the ativan) they shot me with another 1mg ativan then prescribed it to me.
I’ve been trying hard to get over these symptoms, now I have twitching in my muscles, sometimes feel hot like a fever and still get tachycardia here and there.
Why don’t they know how to develop something that doesn’t have side effects/withdrawal effects?
Basically I went in relatively healthy and came out a psychopath with extreme anxiety and panic.attacks, the symptoms have not yet gone away in nearly 2 months now.

Congratulations. You’re now a source of income for the pharmaceutical companies (and assumably for whichever doctor now needs to monitor you).
They wouldn’t get nearly as much money if they developed something that “fixed” you and that didn’t have side effects and withdrawal symptoms that required even more medication. In fact, anyone who came up with something like that would probably go out of business. Medicine — and especially medications — can be one of those fields where the bigger the problem that’s made — even unintentionally — the more money the “expert” ends up making. And the problematic medications, thought patterns, etc. end up sustaining as a result. Hope that makes sense.
